History of our name:
The name “Allegheny” represents the location of our first school
in Turtle Creek (Allegheny County) opened in the late 1960’s. “Shotokan,” is the base style of Japanese
Karate we study and teach. Shotokan Karate offers a positive outlet for students to study a traditional Martial Art
based on discipline and respect. The school now resides in (Irwin) North Huntingdon (Westmoreland County) Pennsylvania, a

William Viola is a Master of The Martial Arts
with over 45 years experience. As a 7th degree black belt, he is considered a pioneer of karate on the East Coast and
recognized internationally for his promotions and advancement of the art and sport.
Shihan Viola began his training in Shotokan under
the JKA (Japan Karate Association) in the early 1960's. Shihan Viola was also promoted by Grandmaster Robert Trias (United
States Karate Association) and Grandmaster George Anderson. (United States of America Karate Federation).
*Viola is documented as one of the
"true" originators of modern day Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) having produced MMA shows in the 1970's
years before groups such as UFC or Pride became popular. He also trained & coached champion mixed martial artists, boxers,
and full contact kick boxers for championship bouts.

PERSONAL:
As
a family man, Shihan Viola has had the opportunity to teach all of his five children in the art of karate. Bill Viola
Jr, Addie Viola, Jacque Viola, Alison Viola, and Joce Viola. All five childern have acevd their black belts and gone
on to win state and national karate titles. Viola is also a retired Science Teacher from the East Allegheny School district.

Sensei Viola. is a 4th degree black
belt with over 27 years martial arts experience. He is the most successful sport karate champion in Pennsylvania Karate Rating Association history winning an unprecedented (record setting) 8-consecutive State Titles
(1992-1999). He is a internationally renown fitness promoter credited with producing The Kumite Classic (as seen on ESPN). He is the editor and publisher of Kumite Quarterly Magazine and founder The Kumite International, a scholarship organization. As a member of Screen
Actors Guild (SAG) and The American
Federation of Television and Radio (AFTRA) He has made numerous guest appearances
for television, film, and radio. His experience includes appearances on networks such as MTV, NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX, UPN, WB, USA, and ESPN
